An asphalt overlay is a process that can add much life to an existing road, parking lot, or even a driveway. As the name implies, an additional layer is added over the existing mat.

Prep work is critical to the success of an overlay. This includes taking care of any patching, the sealing of cracks, milling along the curbs, sidewalks, or swales which helps maintain flow lines. A special fabric can be applied prior to paving to help slow down reflective cracking (cracks will want to reflect through a new asphalt mat over time). A sufficient amount of tack must be sprayed for bonding of existing asphalt with new asphalt.
